About the Author

My name is Ron van Riet. I'm a network automation architect at Avit Group, a Cisco systems integrator in the Netherlands. I have a long background in networking and software development, ever since I studied electrical engineering and tele-informatics the first internet browsers were introduced.

I've worked with a number of programming languages and systems for networking and collaboration (IP telephony and conferencing) over the years, and also achieved a number of specialization and certifications. In 2026 I obtained the CCIE Automation certification, which proved to be both a very interesting and quite challenging achievement I'm very proud of.

In my work I especially enjoy projects in which I can combine networking and programming knowledge to create unique solutions that really make a difference. Those projects are never done by one person, but always involve close collaboration with other experts and users. That collaborative aspect is what makes the outcomes truly impactful and rewarding.

Besides my profession, I also enjoy traveling, photography, playing drums and tinkering with technology and gadgets at home.

About NAUTORIALS

NAUTORIALS is a platform where I share tutorials and insights on network automation technologies. The tutorials format allows me to combine the theory and concepts of network automation techniques with practical examples. The tutorials are intended for network professionals and enthusiasts looking to start with network automation, or to enhance and expand their skills further.

The tutorials provide you background knowledge and a working example to start using the network automation techniques yourself. I also explain how you can safely experiment and practice using simulated lab environments. Once you've grasped the concepts and have seen them in action, you'll be better equipped to tackle your own network automation challenges yourself.

Because of my background of working mainly with Cisco systems, I use these in the tutorials as well. However, most of the network automation techniques also apply to other brands and solutions, so I hope the examples inspire you to apply the techniques in your own environment.
